A Legacy of Partnership

We have a strong history of partnering with other pharmaceutical companies, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, policymakers, trade associations and alliances, industry researchers and patient advocacy groups. In fact, in 2019, we collaborated with more than 60 associations worldwide on global public health issues. Below, explore a few examples of our key collaborations focused on access to medicine, public awareness and disease screening and healthcare provider education and support.

Access to Medicine

  • Dispensary of Hope, Americares, Direct Relief and other organizations to donate over 1.5 billion doses of medicine in the U.S. and around the world since 2007
  • Medicines for Europe to help increase the health and wellbeing of all Europeans through better access to high quality medicines by removing gaps in access between branded product and generics
  • India’s National Viral Hepatitis Control Program to supply medicine for more than 150,000 patients in more than 11 Indian states
  • TB Alliance to increase access to the molecule pretomanid as part of a three-drug tuberculosis regimen in many low-income countries
  • The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to scale up access to affordable HIV treatment in low- and lower-middle-income countries
  • Global collaboration with Gilead Sciences to expand access to the investigational antiviral remdesivir for the potential treatment of COVID-19
  • The International Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (IGBA) to increase global access to generics

Public Awareness and Disease Screening

  • National Health Commission, Health News, the Cardiovascular Health Union of China, and the Chinese Stroke Association to increase awareness of cardiac diseases through the Bending The Curve campaign in China
  • Egypt’s Tahya Misr to sponsor approximately 1 million hepatitis C screening kits at low cost
  • Through our Health Matters Initiative to address gaps in noncommunicable diseases (NCD) health literacy, we entered into an innovative partnership with Emirates Airlines to develop short, educational, animated videos on diverse NCD topics for Emirates infotainment platform ICE
  • Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Mental Health Hub The World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) partnership to foster early diagnosis and treatment of comorbid depression and anxiety with other NCDs and chronic diseases, in 21 APEC communities
  • Affordable Cancer Care Program to screen more than 6 million people in India for oral cancer
  • American College of Cardiology to impact patient outcomes in cardiovascular and other noncommunicable disease areas. We achieve this through NCD awareness initiatives and global cardiovascular disease training and education programs. To date, 44 live programs on the latest guidelines and evidence for disease prevention have reached nearly 70,000 clinicians in nearly 50 countries
  • ''For Your Heart'' partnership in Mexico, which aims to reduce the burden of NCDs by focusing on improving the screening and diagnosis of cardiovascular risk factors among employees across corporations and harnessing real-world data for future prevention
  • Support for the China Public Health Education Media Program (CHEER), supervised by Chronic Disease Control Bureau, National Health Commission of China, to increase NCD awareness
  • Noncommunicable Disease Alliance (NCDA) to research and illuminate the role of primary care healthcare workers in decreasing the burden of NCD. The launch of the “our Views our Voices” initiative in local communities harnesses real-world data from people living with NCDs to inform relevant solutions
  • AMR Industry Alliance to curb antimicrobial resistance focused on the areas of research and science, appropriate use, access and manufacturing and the environment
  • Duke-National University of Singapore Medical School to establish a center of excellence focusing on real-world evidence and systems thinking in Southeast Asia
  • ASIA Clinical Networks to create HOPE & CRISP Network to support thought leadership in cardiovascular disease through publication and collaborative research
  • MinaCare to analyze real-world data on the long-term outcome of care in Japan, with the goal of influencing behavior to improve patient quality of life and reduce Japan’s NCD burden
  • EM NCD Think Tank a multisector group of experts from across Viatris’ emerging markets to explore issues that challenge improvement of NCD outcomes, advocate and amplify responses, and co-design approaches to beyond-the-pill solutions
  • We formed a unique partnership with NYU Abu Dhabi to enhance research capabilities in the region by conducting bespoke training modules and utilizing the NYU AD network with health authorities to generate real world evidence. This partnership also allows us to support one of the largest NCD clinical trials, the Healthy Future Study, which will provide deep insights into NCD-centric trends in the region

Healthcare Provider Education and Support

  • Tata Memorial Centre’s Affordable Cancer Care project in India, which trained nearly 600 frontline health workers and more than 200 medical officers on early detection and prevention of common cancers in 2019. Additionally, a group of doctors and nurses were trained in chemotherapy in six districts
  • The NCD Academy, in partnership with the American College of Cardiology, the World Heart Federation and the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Alliance, to provide physicians with access to digital resources and capabilities to enhance the prevention and treatment of NCDs
  • C3 Collaborating for Health, to simplify cardiovascular risk communication and increase awareness of mental health disorders & other NCDs among healthcare professionals and patients
  • World Psychiatric Association (WPA) partnership to focus on bridging gaps in knowledge and practice, and fostering capability development in mental health across emerging markets
  • i-Manage partnership in Malaysia brings together seven societies to help create an integrated approach focused on training and building a sustainable support system for general practitioners and pharmacists to improve NCD management
  • Now Sail campaign to help county hospitals improve their capabilities in key clinical specialties and hospital management
  • European Commission partnership through the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA) to develop innovative solutions to address healthy aging through Project chAnGE (Clinical practice-oriented cHange solutions towards Active aNd healthy aGEing). Implementation across five countries in Europe focuses on adherence, managing frailty, and improving medical errors through different technology outreach solutions
